Bernheim Footbridge
Private collection, watercolor.
As featured in one Sunday Courier-Journal magazine cover story of the period this location was my favorite haunt to escape the stress of the public school classroom's demands. Starting in 1983 I would tote a portable VHS video camera unit on a tripod and record hours of video of the goldfish, frogs and dragonflies which graced this spot of nirvana.
Several other minimal compositions from this period were sold in regretable yard sale fashion at a friends home one tight summer when the last paycheck from June wouldn't stretch til August when school resumed, and the salary. America still allows its teachers to live from paycheck to paycheck even though the money is spread year-round... Hi Ho, as Vonnegut would say.
